VPN provides us a privacy to stay safe while performing any kind of attack. Sometimes you have to secure your IP Address for your protection. So it’s legal to use VPN and hide your IP from attackers and stay safe and secure.
So in today blog I will discuss the complete process of download & installation of VPN in kali for free. I’ll use Proton VPN for this purpose. Proton VPN offers free version with paid version. But for now free is enough to get started.
How to install VPN?
Install Proton VPN on Kali Linux is one of the best option, free and most trusted VPN services available. So let’s walkthrough the installation process. How to install proton VPN on Kali Linux
Step 1: Create a Proton VPN Account.
- First open up your browser in Kali and visit https://protonvpn.com.
- Click on create account now you have few different paid options.
- Click Free Plan by clicking on “Get Proton Free” & then continue with Free.
- Free plan you have 302 servers in almost six countries no ads and unlimited volume.
- Enter your email address in this box, create password.
- Click on start using proton VPN to create your account after your account is created.
- You’re logged in your dashboard will look something like this in the image shown you will see the downloads option
Step 2: Download Proton VPN for Kali Linux.
- Now go to Proton VPN dashboard and now we have a download Section from left side menu.
- Under proton VPN clients click on download button for gnu Linux and a new page will be open.
- Click on install proton VPN and when you’re on this page scroll down and you will see a link which says Debian, click on it.
- We are going to be downloading the file for Debian since Kali Linux is a Debian version so when you’re on this page.
- Scroll down and copy the given commands which will download the repository configuration.
Step 3: Install Proton VPN via Terminal.
- Now open the Terminal of Kali Linux.
- In terminal paste the command you copied from the official page of the Proton VPN.
- Once the .deb file is downloaded you can see in my desktop file is present.
- Now run the following command to install it.
sudo dpkg -i protonvpn-stable-release_*.deb
- Update your package list using command.
sudo apt update
- Finally install Proton VPN using command.
sudo apt install proton-vpn-gnome
This will install the Proton VPN GUI app on your system.
Step 5: Verify your new IP.
To check if your VPN is working or not,
- Open your VPN and go to https://dnsleaktest.com.
- The site will show your new IP address and location.
So this is how your VPN successfully installed in kali Linux.
